Postal 2, is an action/adventure game like no other you've played. The game takes place in the fictional city of Paradise, AZ, which in and of itself is one of the game's earliest ironies. The postal series was developed and inteneded, to give players as much control over their gameplay as possible. This may sound similar to the '
Grand Theft Auto' series, but Postal takes it to another level. The first iteration of the postal series came out in '97, and 2 came out in 2003. Postal, is designed for mature audiences and therefore has allot of adult oriented humor, and the particular humor may not be funny to everyone. But in my opinion, pissing on people, death, doom, destruction, and gore are all hil-fucking-larious.
While you can deal with the inhabitants of Paradise, in very violent ways for example: You can set someone on fire, you can tazer someone and watch them curl up into a fetal position on the gournd and piss themselves, you can even stick a cat on the end of a large gun, for a silencer. While you can do all this, in order to complete the game you do not necessarily have to
kill anyone, as cops or your fellow work mates will shoot at people who shoot at you. So the amount of violence in the game is left totally up to the player, and while it is generally encouraged to kill people, as if you bump into someone they will insult you, dogs will attack you, and people will shoot at you at random (depending on the difficulty setting), it is not necessarily needed.
Allot of game reviews criticize the game for A) not having a real plot, B)The over the top violence, and whatever else they criticized it for, they went into this game reviewing it as a shoot em' up. And this game is not that, by any reach, while there is shooting through out the game it's very sparce, you rarely find yourself in a gun battle brought directly on by the game itself, although there is a part during each day where you end up in a 'level' esque set up, and are in danger, you can always flee. The core basis of the game, is that you're a 'white trash' guy, who lives in a trailer, with a pitbull named champ, and his never seen 'Bitch', that has you do daily errands, and in life shit happens, which is what this game shows. You could be doing something as simple as getting Gray Coleman's autograph for your bitch, and police rush the mall to kill him, and you could be swept up into the hail of bullets.
